Chalk, Chalk, & More Chalk!
There’s nothing as exciting to a child than colorful, imaginative play. Grab some cheap and colorful sidewalk chalk and your child can create their own imaginary oasis of boats, fish, sunshine and rainbows! The opportunity is endless of what they might think up. The fact that it is cheap and easy to prepare and clean up is a plus for us busy mommas too!
Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles to Pop!
Toddlers love nothing more than to chase things and nothing is more fun to chase than a mysterious bubble! If floats low to the ground, high to the sky and zig zags through the yard. They are circular rainbows tempting chubby fingers to poke at them for at least one hour of peaceful momma bliss!
Splish Splash not the Bath!
My toddler can’t help herself when it comes to water. She unloads it on me during her bath, pours out her water cup on the table at mealtimes, and don’t get me started on the garden hose incident 🙂 One activity that will keep a toddler entertained for an afternoon would be a water table. Any water table will do but my favorite is a water table with lots of balls and gadgets to play with.
Hide & Seek
There’s nothing more satisfying to a toddler than playing hide and seek! Toddlers love to be in charge and will happily count while their mommy or daddy runs to hide so they can find them. I even bring my infant son along for the ride. He gives me away with his squeals of excitement sometimes but it’s all for the love of the game!
Balls
I haven’t met a toddler yet that won’t play with a ball. It doesn’t matter if it’s a beach ball, soccer ball, rubber ball, or a volleyball. Toddlers can’t wait to roll, kick, and pass that ball! For out side I love to use a large rubber ball that’s easy to kick but fun to throw at each other without getting hurt.
